Step 2: Define the hairline or bangs
I find it helpful to think of this line as being separate from the first. Just forget the overall shape for a moment, and concentrate on how the hair fall across the face. |

| If your character has drawn back or very short hair, you'll need to define the hairline. Manga hairlines tend to be quite simplified. Often they aren't even divided into the angular bits at the temples and the curved part over the forehead. Still, you need to think about the form of the head as you're drawing.

| The hairline will also be very low, often just a very little distance above the tops of the brows. More realistic faces, which also have smaller eyes, will have a higher forehead.

| Here's an interesting little convention. If the hair is any color other than black, any part of it that falls over the eye is usually translucent.
